Hot on the heels of RALPHH delivering its 50th defibrillator to schools and sports clubs across many sports, cricket has been added to the list of recipients.
Over 60’s cricket is a fast-growing sport, played across 33 counties with some 2,500 participants nationwide each week of the summer. With the season fast approaching, over 50 players turn out weekly for nets practice, held at the Kent Country Cricket Ground at Beckenham.
Kent Over 60’s and 70’s Cricket club has so many people wanting to play in the Over 60’s that for 2025 it has added a Fifth Eleven, under the captaincy of 67-year-old John Cunningham. All of the other four teams had their own defibrillators and now, thanks to the gift from RALPHH, the new eleven are properly covered for the 10 planned fixtures across the summer months.
RALPHH Chairman Richard Allen (far right) presented the equipment in the nets of the County Ground to (left to right) David Wright; Howard Smith, Manager of the Club and also Chairman of the South East Group of Over 60’s Clubs; David Piper, Club Safety Officer and John Cunningham.

Over 60’s cricket is popular across the South East region with teams in the counties of Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Kent, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex.
“We are delighted that Kent provides our first partnership to bring potentially life-saving equipment to cricket,” said Richard Allen. “This Kent club has shown the way but we are keen to help more clubs involved in cricket, irrespective of the ages of the players. I hope that this development will encourage more clubs to make contact via. richardallen52@btinternet.comand seek our free assistance. .
