RALPHH has made its latest donation of a defibrillator to Huddersfield Sailing Club.
Established in 1958, the Club is based at Boshaw Whams Reservoir, just a mile and half from the town of Holmfirth. The request for the assistance of RALPHH came from Vice-Commodore Mike O’Connor with further help in funding of the exterior case coming from other sources. There is a large clubhouse and the defibrillator has been mounted on the exterior of the building overlooking the water.
The main activity of family-orientated Huddersfield Sailing Club is in fleet and handicap racing, with the most popular being those in the Laser, Heron, Acro, Topper, Byte and Optimist classes.
“We have been delighted to help this busy sailing club,” said RALPHH Chairman Richard Allen. “This is a most beautiful part of the country but it is some distance from other potential life-saving services. RALPHH is also keen to hear from more sailing clubs who believe they should take seriously having defibrillation equipment readily available. Our service is free across many different sports and simply ask that those in receipt of a donated defibrillator commit to looking after it properly.”
